On This Day - April 06, 1946.

The Australian National Airways Douglas C-49-DO '41-7686' arrived at Brisbane (Archerfield) having completed its delivery flight from the Philippines (Tacloban) via Mt Ambon - Darwin - Cloncurry. It was then converted to civilian standards at the A.N.A. workshop at Brisbane (Archerfield) before being registered as VH-ANQ on May 22. The aircraft was named 'Dromana'.

Qantas Empire Airways purchased the Royal Australian Air Force Douglas C-47A-20-DL 'A65-9' for the equivalent of $A 12,500. It was reregistered as VH-EAM on December 12, 1946.

The Trans-Australia Airlines Vickers Viscount 720C VH-TVD 'Hamilton Hume' was withdrawn from service and placed in open storage at Melbourne (Essendon). It was sold to Keagan Aviation, England on October 09, 1967.

On This Day - April 06, 2024.

The Qantas Airways Airbus A380-842 VH-OQA 'Nancy-Bird Walton' returned to service operating Flight QF11 from Sydney (Kingsford Smith) to the United States (Los Angeles). It had been withdrawn from use at Sydney (Kingsford Smith) on March 28, 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic and then stored at Victotville since June 10, 2020.
