The Australia Airlines Boeing 737-376 VH-TAX 'Success' arrived at Melbourne (Tullamarine) having completed its delivery flight from the United States (Seattle / Boeing Field) as Flight TN1398. It was the airline's 10th Boeing 737.

The Qantas Airways Boeing 747-338 VH-EBT was wet-leased to Garuda Indonesian Airlines for 2 months, to operate 'Hadj' flights. It was operated in an 'all-white' livery with 'Garuda' titles and tail logo. It was ferried Sydney (Kingsford Smith) to Jakarta (Indonesia) as Flight QF8530.

The Air New Zealand Boeing 767-219ER ZK-NBA returned to service operating Flight NZ121 from Auckland (New Zealand) to Melbourne (Tullamarine), following its return from its lease to Ansett International.

On This Day - April 12, 2001.

It was discovered that an Ansett Australia Boeing 767 had been operating with an incorrectly stowed 'emergency-exit' slide - a definite 'no-go' item as far as CASA was concerned. It finally lost patience with Ansett, and grounded the airline's entire fleet of 10 Boeing 767s - one-third of its capacity - on the day before the busy Easter holiday period.
