On This Day - December 17, 1952.

The Short S.25 Sandringham Mk 4 flying boat VH-BRC, now registered to Ansett Flying Boat Services, performed a number of test flights from the Brisbane River, following its return to 'flying status' after being layed-up since January 1951. It was ferried to Sydney (Rose Bay) the following day, to undergo Department of Civil Aviation checks.

The Virgin Australia Boeing 737-8FE VH-VUC 'Peregian Beach' returned to service, operating Flight VA811 from Melbourne (Tullamarine) to Sydney (Kingsford Smith) after being repainted into the standard 'Virgin Australia' livery.
