The Ansett Flying Boat Services Short S-25 Sunderland Mk V Flying Boat VH-BRF arrived at Sydney (Rose Bay), having completed its delivery flight from New Zealand (Auckland). It was still in the basic Royal New Zealand Air Force layout.

On This Day - December 18, 1977.

The Qantas Airways Boeing 707-338C VH-EAB 'Winton' operated its final passenger service, operating Flight QF352 from Christchurch to Sydney (Kingsford Smith). The aircraft had a special 'Have A Qantastic Christmas' livery, and it was the first time that advertising had been carried on the fuselage of a Qantas aircraft. It was withdrawn from service having flown 34,274 hours and 11,882 cycles.

The Qantas Airways Airbus A330-202 VH-EBC 'Surfers Paradise' was officially leased to Jetstar Airways. The aircraft had been at Manila (The Philippines) since December 15, for repainting.

The Jetstar Airways Airbus A320-232 VH-YXT entered service, operating Flight JQ503 from Sydney (Kingsford Smith) to Melbourne (Tullamarine).
