The Airlines of South Australia Douglas C-47A-25-DK VH-ANW, that had been withdrawn from service and stored at Melbourne (Essendon) since October 04, 1971 was donated to the South Australian senator, Dame Nancy Butterfield. It was intended for the Fairfield Venture Youth Club to use the aircraft at the Youth Camp Fun Park, Chain of Ponds, South Australia. |

The starboard landing gear collapsed causing major structural damage to the airframe. It was deemed to be uneconomical to repair and was written-off. |
