On This Day - January 26, 1972.

The Airlines of South Australia Douglas C-47A-25-DK VH-ANW, that had been withdrawn from service and stored at Melbourne (Essendon) since October 04, 1971 was donated to the South Australian senator, Dame Nancy Butterfield. It was intended for the Fairfield Venture Youth Club to use the aircraft at the Youth Camp Fun Park, Chain of Ponds, South Australia.

The Ansett Airlines Boeing 737-277A VH-CZV operated its final revenue service as Flight AN39 from from Sydney (Kingsford Smith) to Melbourne (Tullamarine). It was then withdrawn from service and prepared for sale, having flown some 11,000 hours.

The Ansett New Zealand British Aerospace 146-300 VH-EWN, now reregistered as ZK-NZK and named 'City of Invercargill', was ferried from Melbourne (Tullamarine) to Christchurch (New Zealand) in preparation for its entry into service with Bilmans Management Limited, Christchurch, New Zealand t/a Ansett New Zealand.

The QantasLink Bombardier DHC-8-315Q C-GZPN arrived at Brisbane (Queensland) having completed its delivery flight from Canada (Toronto, Downsview) It was reregistered as VH-SBW before it entered service.

The Airwork / Toll Priority Boeing 737-3B7SF ZK-TLC was badly damaged whilst landing at the Solomon Islands (Honiara). The starboard landing gear collapsed causing major structural damage to the airframe. It was deemed to be uneconomical to repair and was written-off.

The Network Aviation / QantasLink Fokker F28-0100 VH-NHO operated its final revenue service as Flight QF1775 from Onslow to Perth (Western Australia). It was then prepared for donation at the Historic Aircraft Restoration Society (HARS).
