The Qantas Airways Boeing 737-838 VH-VYB 'Cape Otway' arrived at Sydney (Kingsford Smith) having completed its delivery flight from the United States (Boeing Field) via New Zealand (Christchurch) as Flight QF6018. It was the airline's 146th Boeing airliner and its 26th Boeing 737. Whilst at Christchurch winglets were fitted to the aircraft by Air New Zealand Engineering during it's 'pre-service' maintenance. It entered service later that day, operating Flight QF556 from Sydney (Kingsford Smith) to Brisbane.
