The Ansett Australia Boeing 747-312 VH-INH entered service, operating Flight AN881 from Sydney (Kingsford Smith) to Tokyo (Kansai).

The Boeing 767-35HER C-GGBJ, having been repainted into the Ansett Australia livery in preparation for its sub-lease to Ansett, was ferried from Toronto to Montreal (Canada) ready for hand-over. The aircraft was never delivered as Ansett cancelled the sub-lease before it suspended all operations on September 13.
