The Trans-Australia Airlines Douglas DC-4-1009 VH-TAA 'John Eyre' arrived at Melbourne (Essendon), having completed its delivery flight from the United States. It was the airline's first DC-4.

The Ansett Flying Boat Services Short S.25 Sunderland Mk 5 flying boat VH-BRF 'Islander' was test flown at Sydney (Rose Bay), following the completion of its conversion to a civilian airliner by Ansett engineers.

On This Day - September 28, 1968.

The Qantas Airways Boeing 707-138B VH-EBJ 'Longreach' operated its final revenue service, flying Christchurch (New Zealand) to Sydney (Kingsford Smith). This flight was also the final Qantas' Boeing 707-138B service to Christchurch. The aircraft was then withdrawn from service, having flown 22,387 hours.

The ex Qantas Airways Boeing 707-138B VH-EBH, now registered as 9Y-TDC and owned by British West Indian Airways, departed Sydney (Kingsford Smith) on its delivery flight to the airline at Trinidad (West Indies).

The ex Qantas Airways Boeing 707-338C VH-EAA, now leased to Air Niugini as P2-ANB, operated its first Air Niugini service, operating from Sydney (Kingsford Smith) to Port Moresby (Papua New Guinea).

The Ansett Airlines Boeing 727-277A VH-RMX departed Melbourne (Tullamarine) on its ferry flight to the United States (Dothan) where it was converted to an 'all-freight' configuration by Hayes International Corporation. This was the first Boeing 727 series 200 aircraft to be converted to an 'all-freight' aircraft.

The QantasLink Fokker F28-0100 VH-NHC operated its last passenger service, operating Flight QF1813 from Newman to Perth. It was then withdrawn from service at Perth and prepared for its ferry flight to Singapore.
