The Trans-Australia Airlines Lockheed 188A Electra VH-TLA 'John Eyre' operated its final passenger service as Flight TN406 from Canberra to Sydney (Kingsford Smith). It was then ferried from Sydney (Kingsford Smith) to Brisbane as Flight TN2890 for storage. It had flown 34,063 hours with 26,925 cycles.

The Trans-Australia Airlines Lockheed 188A Electra VH-TLB 'John Gilbert' operated its final passenger service as Flight TN1948 from Melbourne (Essendon) to Sydney (Kingsford Smith). It was then ferried from Sydney (Kingsford Smith) to Brisbane as Flight TN1922 for storage. It had flown 33,826 hours with 26,843 cycles.

The Qantas Airways Boeing 747-238B VH-EBA 'City of Canberra' operated its last passenger service, operating Flight QF93/94 from Sydney (Kingsford Smith) - Nadi (Fiji) - Sydney (Kingsford Smith). It was then withdrawn from use and prepared for lease to Air Lanks.

The Ansett Airlines Boeing 737-377 VH-CZP, having been leased to America West Airlines due to the protracted 'Australian pilots dispute' as N115AW, arrived at Melbourne (Tullamarine) having completed its ferry flight from the United States, at the end of its lease. It was reregistered as VH-CZP on May 01.

The Thai Airways Boeing 747-2D7B HS-TGA arrived at Auckland (New Zealand) on a 3-month lease to Air New Zealand. It was reregistered as ZK-TGA before it entered service.

The Qantas Airways Boeing 737-476 VH-TJI, having been returned by Air Vanuatu at the end of its lease, entered service with Qantas Airways, operating Flight QF633 from Brisbane to Melbourne (Tullamarine). It was then repainted into the standard Qantas livery at Melbourne (Tullamarine).
