The Qantas Airways Boeing 707-138B VH-EBJ 'Longreach' arrived at Sydney (Kingsford Smith) having completed its delivery flight from the United States (Seattle, Renton). It was the airline's 10th Boeing airliner.

On This Day - August 28, 1964.

The Royal Australian Air Force Vickers Viscount 816, A6-435, arrived at Canberra, having completed its delivery flight from the United Kingdom. It was operated by Number 34 Squadron on V.I.P. duties.

On This Day - August 28, 1970.

The Trans-Australia Airlines Vickers Viscount 816 VH-TVP 'John Gould' flew its final revenue service. This was a freighter service between Hobart and Melbourne (Essendon). The aircraft was badly damaged later that day at Melbourne (Essendon) when the port wing was struck by a low loader. The aircraft was repaired but did not return to service. It was sold in April 1971.

On This Day - August 28, 1992.

The Compass Airlines Douglas DC-9-82 LN-RLG, leased from Scandinavian Airlines System, arrived at Melbourne (Tullamarine) having completed its delivery flight from Norway. It was reregistered as VH-LNK later that day.

The Impulse Airlines Boeing 717-23S VH-AFR entered service, operating Sydney (Kingsford Smith) - Brisbane.

On This Day - August 28, 2002.

The Independent Air Freighters Boeing 727-277AF VH-RMX operated its last freight service, operating Perth to Melbourne (Tullamarine). The aircraft was then returned to Intrepid Aviation Partners the same day, before it was sold to TransAustralian Air Express on September 18, and reregistered as VH-VLG on September 30.

On This Day - August 28, 2006.

The ex Pionair Adventures Ltd, New Zealand Douglas C-47A-20-DL ZK-AMS, now registered as VH-CWS to Classic Wings, Western Australia, arrived at Perth (Jandakot) having completed its ferry flight from Sydney (Bankstown), where it had undergone a complete overhaul, following its return to the Australian Aircraft Register on March 14.

On This Day - August 28, 2006.

The Qantas Jetconnect Boeing 737-376 ZK-JNF operated its last revenue service as Flight QF53 from Adelaide (West Beach) to Auckland (New Zealand). It was then ferried from Auckland to Christchurch (New Zealand) as Flight QF6171 later that day in preparation for its return to Qantas.

The Air Niugini Boeing 767-319ER P2-ANG, sub-leased from Air New Zealand, was ferried from Port Morseby (Papua New Guinea) to Hong Kong, for end-of-lease maintenance, prior to being handed back to the lessor.
