The Ansett Flying Boat Services Short S-25 Sunderland Mk V Flying Boat VH-BRF arrived at Sydney (Rose Bay), having completed its delivery flight from New Zealand (Auckland). It was still in the basic Royal New Zealand Air Force layout.

On This Day - December 18, 1977.

The Qantas Airways Boeing 707-338C VH-EAB 'Winton' operated its final passenger service, operating Flight QF352 from Christchurch to Sydney (Kingsford Smith). The aircraft had a special 'Have A Qantastic Christmas' livery, and it was the first time that advertising had been carried on the fuselage of a Qantas aircraft. It was withdrawn from service having flown 34,274 hours and 11,882 cycles.

The Ansett Airlines of Australia Fokker F.27-2013 Friendship VH-FNI operated its final revenue service as Flight AN854 from Wynyard (Tasmania) to Melbourne (Tullamarine). It was then prepared for its sale to Commercial Airways Pty Ltd, South Africa.

The ex-Qantas Airways Airbus A300B4-203 VH-TAE, having been sold to Pinnacle Air Cargo Enterprises / Pace Cargo and reregistered as N373PC, departed Melbourne (Tullamarine) on its ferry flight to Germany (Dresden) where it will be converted to an 'all-freight' configuration.
