The Qantas Airways Lockheed 1049C Constellation VH-EAG 'Southern Constellation' departed Sydney (Kingsford Smith) on its ferry flight to the United States (Burbank, California) for scrapping. To mark the event a special sign was painted up - V (very good performer); H (held her reputation); E (entered service first); A (always reliable); G (going out last) - VH-EAG.

The Air Niugini Douglas C-47A-30-DL P2-MMA, having flown some 60,710 hours to date, was sold to Masling Commuter Air Services, and ferried from Port Moresby (Papua New Guinea) to Sydney (Bankstown). It was the largest aircraft acquired by Masling. It was reregistered as VH-MWQ on June 16, before it entered service.
