The Qantas Airways Boeing 707-138 VH-EBB 'City of Sydney' arrived at Sydney (Kingsford Smith) having completed its ferry flight from the United States (Seattle, Renton) where it had been converted to a Boeing 707-138B standard and repainted into the new 'Qantas V-Jet' livery.

The Qantas Airways Boeing 747-238B VH-ECB 'City of Swan Hill' now dubbed 'The Koala Express' transported 6 koalas from Sydney (Kingsford Smith) to Japan (Tokyo) to be added to the national zoo, as Flight QF21. Commemorative nose art was applied to the aircraft to mark the event.

The Transcorp Airways Boeing 707-330C VR-HTC operated its last freighter service as Flight TC200/201 from Sydney (Kingsford Smith) - Noumea - Sydney (Kingsford Smith). It was reregistered as VH-HTC on October 28 to Ansett Transport Industries (Operations) Pty Ltd, Melbourne.

The Qantas Airways Airbus A300B4-203 VH-TAD 'William Light' operated its final revenue service as Flight QF459 from Sydney (Kingsford Smith) to Melbourne (Tullamarine). This flight also marked the final Qantas Airbus A300 service. It was then withdrawn from use and stored at Melbourne (Tullamarine) awaiting sale.
