On This Day - September 15, 1982.

The Travmar Holdings Douglas C-47-DL VH-SBO, that had been stored at Sydney (Bankstown) in the special 'Norman Gunston' livery for over 2 years, was badly damaged when a suicidal pilot deliberately crashed into it. The remains were then used by the Bankstown Airport Fire Department until it was totally scrapped, with the nose section being removed and preserved at Tamworth.

The Ansett Airlines Boeing 737-277A VH-CZX operated its last revenue service, operating Adelaide (West Beach) to Melbourne (Tullamarine). The aircraft was then prepared for its ferry flight to the United States, where it was sold to CIT Leasing Corp.

The ex-Airlines of N.S.W. Douglas DC-3-G202A VH-ANR, having been donated to the Queensland Air Museum on February 18, arrived at the QAM site (Caloundra, Queensland) via two semi-trailers from Camden (New South Wales) where it had been stored since its arrival there on December 14, 1974.

The Ansett Australia Boeing 747-412 VH-ANB, leased from Singapore Airlines, entered service operating Flight AN888 from Hong Kong (Chek Lap Lok) to Sydney (Kingsford Smith).

On This Day - September 15, 2002.

The Qantas Airways Boeing 767-338ER VH-OGJ was ferried from Sydney (RAAF Richmond) to Sydney (Kingsford Smith) as Flight QF6194 following its repaint into the 'Australian Airlines' livery. It was then presented to the media at Sydney (Kingsford Smith) before it returned to regular Qantas service.

The Australian air Express Boeing 727-277AF VH-VLG operated its last freighter service, operating Flight XM7471 from Hobart to Melbourne (Tullamarine). It was then withdrawn from service and stored, awaiting sale.
