Sold to International Lease Finance Corporation, U.S.A. - July 28, 2005 Leased to Freedom Air International Limited as the registered operator Accepted by Freedom Air International at Toulouse - July 28, 2005 Entered onto the New Zealand Aircraft Register as ZK-OJL - July 29, 2005 Registered to Freedom Air International Limited, Auckland, New Zealand Departed France (Toulouse) on the delivery flight to New Zealand as SJ6390 - July 2005 Arrived New Zealand (Auckland) on completion of the delivery flight - August 01, 2005 Delivery route: Toulouse - Gander - Denver - Los Angeles - Honolulu - Apia - Auckland The aircraft was delivered in the special 'Warner Bros Movie World' livery with 'Hollywood on the Gold Coast' titles on both engine cowls Operated its first revenue service Auckland - Coolangatta as SJ903 - August 05, 2005 Withdrawn from service at Christchurch - May 02, 2006 It was prepared for lease to Star XL German Airlines Cancelled from the New Zealand Aircraft Register - May 24, 2006 Entered onto the German Aircraft Register as D-AXLA - May 24, 2006 Leased to Star XL German Airlines, Germany as the registered operator Departed Christchurch on the ferry flight to Germany - May 25, 2006 Sub-leased to Hapag Lloyd Fluggessellschaft, Germany - July 2006 Returned to Star XL Airlines at the end of the sub-lease - October 2006 Star XL German Airlines was renamed XL Airways - November 23, 2006 The aircraft was withdrawn from service and prepared for return to Air New Zealand - November 2008 Repainted into the standard Air New Zealand livery - November 2008 The aircraft was destroyed in an Air New Zealand acceptance flight near Perpignan, France - November 27, 2008 The aircraft crashed approximately 7 km east of St Cyprien Killed were the two XL Airways pilots, four Air New Zealand employees and one N.Z.
