Departed Belfast on the delivery flight to New Zealand - September 1949 Arrived Auckland on completion of the delivery flight - September 29, 1949 Flight crew: Captains C. Griffiths, F. Kilgour This was the first of the five Solents to be delivered to TEAL It operated the inaugural Auckland - Sydney Solent service (Captains A. Jury, T. Brewer) - November 19, 1949 Operated the inaugural Wellington - Sydney Solent service (Captain C. Griffiths) - October 3. 1950 Aircraft struck by 1.3 metre wave that tore off float and damaged wing at Evans Bay, Wellington - October 17, 1950 It was repaired at Wellington and returned to service It operated the inaugural Wellington - Chatham Islands Solent service - December 15, 1950 Damaged whilst landing at Evans Bay, Wellington (Captain P.
